Brower Bulding Momentum in Wisconsin!

Hey everyone,

I am sure that you have read before about Glen Brower, Democratic candidate for the 21st Assembly district, covering South Milwaukee, Oak Creek, and two wards in the city of Milwaukee.  Glen is running a powerfully people-powered campaign, from committing to knocking on at least 100 doors a day until election day, to setting up precinct captains in each of the districts wards to talk to their neighbors, and being his message through.

Glen is a true progressive, fiscally responsible, looking to take care of the tax-payers pocket book, while making sure that special interests don't corrupt our politics. He served 20 years in the Army, retireing a Lt. Colonel, he then went to Madison to work for the Veterans Department, and help make sure that our boys and girls serving overseas come back and receive the dignity they deserve. He helped create the first economic development authority in South Milwaukee, and helped to save Grant Park from development.

John McCain Hates Wisconsin Children ( Snark!)

John McCain is hosting a town hall tomorrow in Racine WI, (Heavily Democratic, and African-American)

Turns out that his campaign is forcing a popular children's book read to reschedule at the public library just a few blocks away.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel,

McCain trumps Miss Spider

A kids' summer reading program in Racine is getting bumped Thursday for a visit by a presidential candidate.

The Racine Public Library was planning to host the finale of its Summer Reading Challenge, featuring "Miss Spider's Tea Party." Then Republican John McCain scheduled a town hall meeting at the Racine Civic Centre around the same time.

Apparently, that's a lot of activity to squeeze into a few blocks, so the summer reading event had to go.
Don't worry faithful readers. Ms. Spider has been rescheduled for Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Has Mr. McCain NO Shame Sir!

3 Seats away from Taking Back the Wisconsin Assembly

Democrat Glen Brower is running strong and spirited campaign for State Assembly in the 21st district, representing South Milwaukee and Oak Creek.

He understands the problems we all face, from rising property taxes, rising gas prices, and ever more expensive health insurance, Glen knows that more of the same just won't do. We need honest and responsible leadership to address the problems that can no longer be ignored.

We are just three seats away taking back our State Assembly, and making sure that the issues we all care about are truly addressed.

Help Elect a Progressive from Wisconsin!

Glen Brower has thrown his hat into the ring to represent the Wisconsin 21st Assembly District, he is running against a well financed Bush Republican, Mark Honadel.  A man who voted against the Minimum Wage, voted against emergency birth control for rape victims, and voted against tuition breaks for veterans in the UW system.

Here is a message that Glen asked me to pass along,

Hello,

I'm Glen Brower and I am running for the State Assembly in the 21st district. My decision to run came when I could no longer recognize the state and country that I grew up in and had sworn to protect as a Lieutenant Colonel in the army. Now retired, I want to address critical problems that exist in Wisconsin. I have come to the conclusion that our middle class values and way of life are slipping out from under us.

We are only three seats away from winning back our State Assembly and creating opportunity and prosperity for all Wisconsinites. With your support we can achieve this goal and truly begin to see universal healthcare, environmental sustainability and a better future for our children.

I have been told that a win in this district will be difficult to achieve because I will be outspent by a vast amount. However, I'm not certain that our democratic system of one vote, one voice, should be dismissed in favor of dollar signs. It is my firm belief that this election will not be won by the highest bidder, but by a true grassroots approach. Citizen by citizen, neighborhood by neighborhood, ward by ward, we will produce a voice that no special interest can purchase and no bank roll can outperform.
I encourage you to take a few minutes and go through my website. Take the time to gain a sense of who I am and what issues I believe are critical to our future. You owe it to yourself, your family, and our community

Thanks again,

Glen Brower

Sleaze in Nevada?

From Andrew Sullivan....

Just one story of many out there today:

I've just finished talking on the phone with my husband, Samuel Bartmess, about his experience today in the Nevada caucus in a town called Pahrump. He was in charge of one precinct; however, three other precincts were placed in the same cafeteria. Thus, four precincts (about 600 people) were all in one room. In this cafeteria he witnessed voter fraud and slime politics at its worst from the Clinton organizers and precinct captains.

The doors officially opened at 11 a.m., but by 10 a.m. Clinton voters swarmed the place.  They had been told to arrive early because there were not going to be enough ballots to go around for everyone; thus, first come first served.   By the time 11:20 rolled around Clinton organizers were shutting the doors even though this was not supposed to happen until noon.  Samuel ran back and forth from his precinct to the door trying to make sure it stayed open and, thus, started the war of words between him and the Clinton people.   Cheating followed.  Obama supporters were told that there were no more ballots even though extras were around. Clinton voters were counted more than once in differing precincts. Temp chairs refused to register Obama voters.  Undecided voters got their preference box marked for them as "Clinton" by Clinton people even though the undecided did not express a preference for the Senator.   Overall, the four precincts were taken advantage of by the Clinton team because everything was so disorganized.

When Samuel tried to make things fair and organized he was told time and again that he didn't get to have an opinion because he was not from Nevada.   He took the topic up with his Obama precinct captain who was unable to sway others into having a fair count.  He had a number of arguments with those who were causing chaos and those who did nothing to stop the chaos.   Overall, Samuel does admit that if the Clinton organizers had played fair that they probably would have won the precinct in the first place.  However, they disenfranchised voters and out maneuvered the other campaigns by playing dirty politics.  It was a Mob-ocracy of ruthless Clinton organizers.   For Clinton's team, today was not a day about respect, it was not a day about uniting a country, it was not a day about people working together as one, it was a day of winning for the Clinton team.   This mob intimidated and pushed their neighbors around.  Samuel firmly believes more than ever that our campaign is about bringing the country together and the Clinton camp is for division.

A reader writes:

After years of loyal reading I finally understand your distaste for all things Clinton.

I live in Las Vegas, Saturday was my first caucus. I went to support Obama, requiring changing registration from independent to Democrat. I brought 18 voters including friends and family. All Obama supporters. Early in the campaign most of us thought we'd hope for Obama now and still vote for Hillary in November if she wins the nomination. Not now. No chance. We got the Barack-bashing phone calls. We got bullied by out-of-state Hillary workers at the caucus site telling us we were "on the dark side of the party". We've seen Bill Clinton all over the local news looking more like a Karl Rove political hack than a distinguished former president. We've seen them try to destroy the local party and unions. In the fall if she's on the ballot it's not just blacks who will stay home. I know 19 white people who showed up today but won't be there in the general election. And if we do it'll be for McCain or Bloomberg.

And I just thought you were so excitable about the Clintons. Maybe you were only a Diva-hater. I should've known better. You must get tired of telling people "I told you so".

Obama Hip-Hop Story De-Bunked

Can we finally put this story to rest?

From the Politico.

Obama's soundtrack

So I've now spent way too much of my morning trying to report out the New York Post's item that Obama had sexist entrance music:

As Obama and his wife, Michelle, strolled triumphantly into his victory party in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 3, Jay-Z's "99 Problems" was blaring. In it, Jay raps, "I got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one."

It's a provocative scene. But I can't find any evidence that it happened, though it does seem to have been the subject of chatter among staffers of both campaigns.

According both to the Obama campaign and my sources out there, Obama only attended one "victory party" in Des Moines that night -- at which he entered to a U2 song. He His supporters -- though not the candidate -- then then went to the Des Moines restaurant Centro, where nobody's ever heard hip-hop, and didn't that night. There was also a music-free victory conference call with Obama.

But if anybody actually heard this...let me know.

And less, er, speculatively, Crain's reports that he has the bulk of hip-hop support.
